I should post a string of out-takes from ALL FOUR runbys at that location! Sometimes it takes a LOT of frames to get a keeper.
I was a brakeman the Sunday of the picnic and on the morning's photo freight. But
of course I had my camera with me. I was not quite satisfied with what I shot on Saturday morning, as there is only a tiny shaft of sunlight falling directly on the midpoint of the bridge (which illuminates the nose of the engine if you can time it right). Steve knew I was bummed with Saturday's attempts, so when we stopped at Humason to drop off the photographers he said to me, "go ahead, you
know you want to shoot it again!"

Not one to argue with the conductor, or the rapidly rising sun, (or the president for that matter!) I grabbed my camera and jumped off!
But in the end, after looking at the pictures on my computer screen, one of my frames from the very first runby on Saturday contained a pleasing image!!
Damn.
