Fund Drive 2010 progress
« on: December 13, 2010, 06:40:17 PM »
I thought there was another thread on this somewhere, but couldn't find it.

I heard someone was lamenting the fact that we don't see many updates here on the fund drive progress.  So I am providing an update.

As of Friday's board meeting, Gordon Davis (who gets the mail) reported the fund drive was up to $46,500.  He hadn't gotten the mail for most of the week, so that has probably changed since then.

That sounds great... but I forget what the goal was?

According to the September 1, 2010 solicitation letter. The goal is $50,000. Of this, 20,000 is to partially pay back the coach 3 purchase loan, 15,000 is to complete road access to the ROW on The Mountain, 7,000 toward the new parking lot, 7,000 toward to restroom project, and 1,000 for continued electrical work in the car shop extension and elsewhere.

That members and friends of the WW&F care enough to support the museum in this way in these difficult times is a tribute to the management and vision of our Board of Directors. Many non-profit organizations are having an increasingly hard time meeting their annual goals, yet with several weeks remaining until the end of the year, we have achieved 93% of the goal. If you haven't yet made your contribution, now is as good a time as any.

It was reported to me this weekend that we passed the fund drive goal.  Hooray for us!  And thanks to all of you.

However keep those letters and checks coming.  We don't officially end it until around February or March.

The end-of-the-year total for the fund-raiser is a little over $52,000.  Hurrah!  With it we've put in a pad for the restrooms, and paid off half of the Coach 3 loan.

The Whitefield Section House fund has had about $1000 come to it.

This is great news for the new year. I imagine the total may climb a bit higher as a few more donors write year-end checks. I've described how our members come through every year to a couple of professional fund raisers, and they want to know our secret!

Now if we could just get some more donations to the Whitefield Section House project....

Is there an estimate as to the materials cost for the section house?

When Ed Lecuyer  and I were working on grant applications, the material cost was estimated around $3.300.

We're figuring around $7,000.00 based on a rough materials list that Wayne and Stewart compiled some time ago. We appreciate all donations no matter how small or large.
