When are the boiler parts for #10 going to be loaded up on the flats and sent up the line to Maine Machine?

Not pictured was me crawling underneath 10 to hold some bolts. Finally getting some experience on steam restoration!

Daniel, you gave me a good laugh and memories of my Volkswagen days in the early 1970's. I relied heavily on a spiral-bound publication with the title of Volkswagen repair for the complete idiot.

The author had a great sense of humor and based his writing and drawings on his own adventures underneath a dead bug by the side of the road. A few of his drawings were made while he was laying on his back looking up at the oil sump or transaxle. He titled these comical drawings as "worms eye view".

Ultimately I had 9 air-cooled beetles, several were 36 hp oval-window models from the mid-1950's. Wish I had just one of these today!

So, enjoy your time on the ground Daniel...it only gets better!
Wanted: Copies of correspondence and photographs from "first generation narrow gage railfans" such as Linwood Moody, Dick Andrews, Lawrence Brown, Ellis Atwood, H.T. Crittenden and others. Interested in all two foot (U.S.) rail operations, common carrier, industrial/mill and park/museum.

We all should thank Wes Carpenter for doing such a great job rebuilding the steam pressure gauge for Loco #10.

In reviewing the article in the latest WW&F Newsletter it became apparent that someone one writing about the Bourdon tube repairs got into the Bourbon before they finished the editing.

At least by the time they got to the caption shown below:

The internals of the pressure gauge,
showing the bourbon tube (B)
and movement (M).

Perhaps they started with the Prosecco from President Dave's Bucharest’s Old Town wedding.

OK, I give up.  What did I get wrong with the caption?  (I have not had any Prosecco this morning before asking the question.)

Bourdon tube vs bourbon tube.  One is more alcoholic than the other.

Good stuff!

I'll take any type of tube as long as it's got corn squeezens in it.  :P

Oops!   Thanks - now I see it.  Funny how I read "bourdon" as "bourbon" in Wes' article.  And I'm not a bourbon drinker.

This is one of those cases where a newsletter editor says, "I put that error in to check if people were reading the article carefully. Thanks for noticing." :)

And I think Bill B just got himself assigned to the editorial review team.

(Don't) mind the gap...

Today was a first assembly of number 10's firebox. The gap is part of normal boiler fit up and will easily pull out with hot work.

great to see the work on #10 going along so well. I am assuming that she won't be ready till 2025 at the earliest, not for this Christmas?

@Mark - definitely not for Christmas 2024 (unless Santa himself gets involved.)

Meanwhile, Bob Longo sent some more photos showing the progress made during Friday's boiler session.
