LAST CALL for 2025 Volunteer Hours!
« on: January 06, 2026, 01:28:45 PM »
This is a LAST CALL for volunteer hours for 2025. If you have any outstanding hours to record, please do so by 1/16.

I plan to have thank-you letters in the mail by the end of the month. If you have volunteered with us in prior years but haven't received a thank-you, chances are we don't have you address. You can send it to me on the forum via private message or you can email it to me at ben.richards [at] wwfry [dot] org

Ellen Fisher & Allan Fisher put in five hours each proofreading the bimonthly newsletter - so 30 hours each for 2025.

Allan, you and Ellen are much thought of and loved by all for your continuing assistance in many areas of the museum's development. Your hours on the newsletter help to make that publication one of the finest in the rail preservation community. Thank you so much!
Wanted: Copies of correspondence and photographs from "first generation narrow gage railfans" such as Linwood Moody, Dick Andrews, Lawrence Brown, Ellis Atwood, H.T. Crittenden and others. Interested in all two foot (U.S.) rail operations, common carrier, industrial/mill and park/museum.

Amen to that.  Ellen and Allan's thorough proofreading has greatly improved each issue and is very appreciated!
We want...A SHRUBBERY!  One that looks nice, and not too expensive.

How do I post hours done in my home shop? Im making the chandeliers for coach 9 and have quite a bait of  time on them. I have been writing down the hours each time I work, but I did not track  the days. Right now I'm at 64 hours and counting.

How do I post hours done in my home shop?

The "Volunteers" forum has a sticky post which has all the information about logging hours. The relevant bit is quoted here:

Quote
For those who complete volunteer activities off-site, we have a dedicated form for capturing those hours: logbook.wwfry.org/offsite
We encourage you to log your offsite hours as you complete them. It only takes a second, and you can get rid of that pesky Excel sheet!

Although, in truth, if you have the link to the full-blown sign-in form already bookmarked on your phone or PC, you can use that, too. It makes no difference in the information that is collected, it just takes more clicks. The off-site form is simply a stripped-down version, to streamline as much as possible.

To clarify, for anyone who has posted here or emailed me, I will log those hours. You do not need to log them. You can, however, log your own time going forward.

Ben,

I will use the electronic off-site log in going forward.

A question, I have kept track of the specific project (archival collection) that I had been working on. Should I continue to do this with a handwritten record?

Answered my own question by using entry point within time login page.
Not computer literate. 🙂
