 Having been a member of the FR Society since 2000,and a fan since the 70's, I would have preferred a  structure that was more complimentary of the surroundings. Stone or wood construction would have been much more of an example of the WHR or L&NW structures in the immediate area. Just my opinion ,no matter .......

It looks like an impressive facility, but I agree, something in a more traditional style would have been more appropriate for that location, especially so close to Caernarfon Castle.

The railway was told by the planning and funding authorities that a 'traditional' building wasn't what was wanted. They requested the architect to design something that would contrast with the castle and be dramatic enough to form the centrepiece for a major redevelopment of the area.

I think the new station is brilliant.  Thanks for sharing the news, John.  Visiting Wales is on my bucket list, with trips on the F&WHR lines at the top of the itinerary.
