From one of our donors via their annual fund drive donation:

I was really touched by the newsletter tribute to your recently decease member - I'm sorry I don't have his name in front of me - with amazing photos of him driving the train.  Go volunteers!

I'm sure it was Bob Longo's photo this person saw.

Posted to Google within moments of their return aboard Saturday's Pumpkin Pickin' Train to SeaLyon Farm:
Coolest thing ever. They do events where you can ride a real baby choochoo train to hay ride to what's basically a farmers market and back again. Gift shop is awesome and cheap. Donate too these guys are incredible. (5-stars)

...a real baby choochoo train...[/i]

I think I just had an aneurism.

Hopefully PT Barnum was right: any publicity is good publicity.

Be glad they got the "real" part right! When I ran the engine at Boothbay years ago, I'd hear the comment "it's not a real steam engine" almost weekly!!

Canobie Lake Park in Salem NH still runs a small Crown steamer. While fired with propane, it remains a fun steam-powered relic largely replaced by a "CP Huntington" at most amusement parks.

One day I was at the park and foaming a little bit as the engine was idle between trips when a couple came up along side me and started admiring the locomotive.

Their conversation:
Him: "Too bad it's not a real steam train."

(and before I could say a word...)

Her: "Hmm. Then why can you see fire coming out of the bottom?"

5-Stars from Google:
Terrific history, friendly and welcoming workers and rare and well-preserved equipment

And Facebook:
It is well organized, operated and maintained by a dedicated crew. Any rail fan needs to see it. Plus mid coast Maine is special of itself.

5-stars on Google:
Excellent place to learn about old time railroading in the early 1900's. Great ride and a great experience!

And via email:
Our grand children absolutely loved the whole experience! We will definitely be booking this again next year.
Thank you for the memories!
