Busy is good. And being among good friends for the day makes it that much better.

Week of April 16, 2018.

The bridge assembly contractor is scheduled to be onsite Tuesday and likely Wednesday.  He may need some help; aside from directly helping him,?we need to cover the floor beams with Ice & Water Shield, and treat the barn boards with flame retardant on the near term.

Tuesday afternoon we will do another scouting survey for track alignment on Location 3.  Next week Rick will be up to take a first pass at laying out a complex reverse curve there, based upon our scout surveys.

Also Tuesday, Joe will be in to prep for track removal this weekend. 

Wednesday we will run a one trip steam charter for a new consortium of local historical societies.

Wednesday we’ll also prep the interior of the shop, and Sheepscot Station, for Stephen Hussar's evening photo sessions coming up this Saturday.

Anticipated work for Saturday May 21:

* Charter II: This is the day and evening charter.
* SWW prep: ties, getting the heavy equipment to Sutters, presumably more tamper work.
* Track take-up: As part of the charter, we're supposed to have some horses pulling 118 as we pull up rail at the north end of Davis Grade in prep for SWW.

Crew call for Saturday!

We need period-dressed able-bodied track workers for the rail removal!  While we are "performing" this for the photographers, we also must have all 310 feet removed by the end of the day, ties included, so that Mike can do his machine work on Sunday. 

Most spikes were pulled yesterday.  We left enough to hold it together for a few more trains.

Saturday's track work will begin at 3PM, and continue until finished- which I expect will be 5PM or so.

Boy oh Boy, am I sorry that I can't be there a week early for the Saturday afternoon activities.  What a great period recreation. 

Then of course, hidden in the fine print is

Though I trust our track foreman and our chief engineer, it smacks a little of the great locomotive chase, or WWII French resistance actions in removing "just enough" spikes.

If there's nothing left to do on B&SR 7 I'll be around the area with nothing to do. I can make myself available and as period as possible if that's the case. I'll know more after the inspection tomorrow.
