The panels are also red oak.  They came from a different board that appeared to be from a different tree and a much older board.

I know there's been some discussion about building a new coach after we get some of the other projects completed. Which coach will we be replicating?  Does anyone have a picture of it?

Hopefully there will be details in the next WW&F Newsletter. That doesn't mean I know anything, but that's why the use of the word "hopefully."

A brief update from the 'Southern Narrow Gauge Door & Window Shop' on the Coach 8 Baggage Doors.  The tempered glass arrived today from the glass shop.  I am off to Nashville this weekend and will fit them when I return after Easter.  No matter how I try and not let the schedule get tight, it seems, as usual, the project will come together just in time for the SWW departure. 

The SNGD&WS shipping department (the whole organization has a staff of one, with many hats) has arranged for a small trailer to tag along on the trip to transport the new doors.

BTW, the flowers and trees around the shop are just budding this week.

We look forward to seeing the doors in person!  We hope you saw tonight's photos on facebook.  Combine #8's doorway is looking great with the quarter round frame sides and steel sill in place.  Note the first photo on the post, pink sunrise right before the storm... no trees or flowers budding and there's still snow on the ground.

My sweet wife said that if I didn't use the room I built for a train room as a train room, she would re-purpose it for another use.  So.... Alas... Sob.... I sold the corvette to make room to move my wood shop down to the 'vette' garage.  This moves the dust makers out of the 'train room' to make room in the current upstairs room (shop) for my HO empire. 

I left my trailer in Nashville last trip so I will bring it back to be used to transport the doors to Maine in two weeks.  Needless to say, I will use the larger Honda Accord to pull the trailer from Nashville, and to Maine.  The Vette would have pulled it with out knowing it was back there, but the Insight would struggle up even the most modest hills unless I drove in 2nd gear.  That would it defeat the petrol saving qualities.

I have a door question: How do the doors open (besides "very well")? Do they open into the car, out of the car, or slide along the inside wall, possibly into a pocket?

I can't wait to see them in service!

It will slide toward the end of the car. The original car (4) had that window blanked out.
