Fred Morse's birthday
« on: January 29, 2016, 05:57:20 PM »
He's probably going to kick my ass for making this widely known but the fact remains that Saturday, January 30th, 2016 is Fred's 80th birthday. Those of you who are regular volunteers and know Fred well will need no introduction. For the rest of you; Fred is one of the stalwarts of the organization. He is our biggest cheerleader, probably more responsible for new volunteers than anyone else. He is often referred to as the "Energizer Bunny" as his enthusiasm and energy are legendary. I used to joke that I hoped I would have his energy when I was his age but the fact is that I don't , nor do most of the rest of us, have it now. His skills and dedication are admirable in and of themselves but what endears him to all of us, me especially, is the way he conducts himself with self effacing good humor, always. So please join me in wishing the happiest of birthdays to Fred.

Steve
Don't ask me. I only cut the grass. Oops, I don't even do that anymore.

Have a Happy 80th and many more. You are the poster child for volunteers.
Not to mention your penchant for verse.

Fred,

Happy birthday, and like others, I wish I had your energy and enthusiasm right now.  Whenever I see you on the work weekends, I feel your energy emanating and affecting everyone in a positive way.  Best wishes and may you have many more.

Happy Birthday Fred !!!!  IMHO I think the BOD should authorize a special "Director's Chair" for you in recognition for all you have done and continue to do.  There are several nice ones at L.L. Bean (hint)

Happy Birthday Fred!

Fred's the fellow who sees someone lingering near the tracks and promptly tells them about the next Work Weekend or puts them to work on the spot. ;D

He usually takes the President's Chair at lunch...

Steve, you left out the singing. Quite 9often he breaks out in song. My favorite, "Waiting for the train to come in" as we are actually standing around waiting for the train.

Of course, Fred is the first one I remember meeting at the museum. To quote him, "Are you here to work, or are you here to ride?" It is always a pleasure to work with him.

I met Fred early on when I first visited the museum, too.  I can't remember if it was a shovel or a string trimmer he handed me right after introductions.

Happy birthday, Fred!
We want...A SHRUBBERY!  One that looks nice, and not too expensive.

Happy Birthday Fred.

You are a most interesting man and each time I visit our museum I learn something new about you and how you contribute to the WW&F and it's mission.  You are always friendly and a delight to be around.

I hope you have many, many more birthdays to share with all of us at the Railroad.
