Winter Work Weekend 2015

We like to hold the Winter Work Weekend on President's Day weekend, because it's a long weekend for many.  This year the calendar puts it on Feb 21-23, but that's incorrect because this year's President's weekend is Feb 14-16.  So the WWW is being declared for next weekend, Feb 14-16.

That said, the only project of any consequence that can go the whole weekend is Locomotive 9.  Jason will be there to run things on Saturday and Monday, but cannot be there on Sunday.  We cannot cut trees because there's 3+ feet of snow on the ground.  We cannot work on the car barn for the same reason.  There's #9 - or there's shoveling snow.  Which would you rather work on?

I'm going to develop a shop work plan this week for winter work week that will have a broader scope than just no 9.  No 9 is the priority but there are only so many simultaneous projects hat can occur in a given number of square feet.

Once we get a handle on things early this week I'll post a list.

Shop work this week centered on no 9 packing glands, crosshead guide finishing, main rod bearings and prepping pistons for rings.

One thing we will have for winter work weekend is plenty of winter. Temps predicted to be below average again, with temps hovering around either side of zero overnight.

18-24" storm predicted Saturday evening through Sunday...

I was planning on:

1.  No 9 packing gland work (w Gordon C)
2.  Boiler jacket metal polishing
3.  Coach 3 brake linkage repair.

But with the storm- I may not rent the polisher.

Who thinks they might be coming?

I will be there Saturday, but want to stay committed to the Kubota. Can be used for an extra hand for a short time if needed.
