Honestly, I dont know where to put this but while scrolling through Facebook I stumbled upon an ad for Carhart Chore coats. It looks like they are bringing them back and with not many companies making denim coats like this i figured at least some people on here would like to know about it.

Here is the link:
https://www.carhartt.com/product/107554

I've noticed that a lot of the bigger companies tend to make these types of jackets every now and then, but they're unreliable in being available when you need one it seems. Added problem is that their price points are getting up there for something that isn't made in the US anymore. I think the last good set of cheap made in the US coats I saw was the pile of herringbone stripe coats seconds by Pointer that Steve P steered a bunch of members to many years ago.

Duluth made a nice one for a while, but I haven't checked what the latest version is like since I'm still working on the stack that I bought 5 years ago.

If you can find a resale merchant for them (they don't sell directly), Prison Blues makes a "yard coat" that's pretty close to the chore coat at a fraction of the price, made in the US and comes in a lined version (the last nice lined chore jackets I've been able to get that were cheap haven't been in production in about 10 years).

The Carhartt one claims "Made in the USA of Imported Parts" whatever that means.

For what it's worth. After seeing Dan's post I did an eBay search. If you do a denim chore coat(or jacket) search filtered by size, U.S. listing only, pick whether men's or women's, etc. some interesting choices show up. Always check the seller's feedback of course and how long they've been at it! A lot of it's going to be second hand clothing but hey, you're going to beat it to death on the job anyway and the price may be very attractive. And yes, there's a smattering of new/old stock out there too.

In years past, I did my shopping at Ames True Value on Route 1 in Wiscasset. Jeff had a line of blue denim Carhart winter coats and blue denim covers (hats). The cover has several small burn holes from Sheepscot brush pile fires and I had a piece of slag go down the inside of one coat when I was cutting old track bolts. Still in usable shape though. The Carharts that Dan had provided the link for are made in the U S. (of imported material and some domestic content) so that I think is a good thing too.
Wanted: Copies of correspondence and photographs from "first generation narrow gage railfans" such as Linwood Moody, Dick Andrews, Lawrence Brown, Ellis Atwood, H.T. Crittenden and others. Interested in all two foot (U.S.) rail operations, common carrier, industrial/mill and park/museum.

Some of that Carhart clothing is available through Tractor Supply Company and if not in your store, check the online store.

Your local Renys should have a good supply of Carharts.  My winter coats are all Carharts, and they last for many years.

Nice folks. Solid products sold by genuine New Englanders. I work with both of the owners regularly in Connecticut. I use their key holder on my house\car keys.

Ran into this ad in the Jan. 1944, Brotherhood of Locomotive Firemen and Engineers Magazine, Volume 116.  Back when railroad workers were catered to.
