A couple of idle thoughts  -

The cool thing about the last photograph -  At first you see the end of coach 8, then you notice the motion of the car from the blurred woods at the edge.  Then your eyes travel to the far end of the car with J.B. perfectly framed in the doorway.  A contrast in motion.

The second shot is interesting in that the cars, often photographed moving and the crew, usually stationary in the cab or on the end platform have switched places... Dana and Roger are moving along the line as the cars wait.

Ok, back to work.

All,

Follow the link below to my photos from the Annual Picnic last weekend.
Click on “Slideshow” at the top right of the screen.

I have been to many photo excursions across the country; none better than the productions performed Saturday evening and early Sunday morning. Not static poses; rather well scripted skits in real time for both digital photographers and videographers to capture. In my opinion very cutting edge, please do more…. and soon!

Thank you again to everyone involved in organizing and working the event, as well as maintaining and operating the equipment.

Narrow gauge railroading at it’s finest.
These images are timeless.

Great photos, Matthew and Steve.

Matthew, regarding your request for "more and soon" - let me encourage you to put a proposal together.  Obviously we'll keep doing these little vignettes from time to time on our own, but if you're looking for something in particular, you should consider a charter.

I don't recall if you were in on it, but John Craft put together a very comprehensive (and long) day of photography on the WW&F a couple of years back.  I didn't think he'd be able to do it with only 2.5 miles of track, but he did.

Matthew,  It was nice to see you at Sheepscot again.  Thanks for the link, beautiful photos.  Some of your images have a wonderful perspective on the railroad.  The shot of Joe leaning against the building with the silhouette of number 10 is amazing.

Wonderful photos Stephen, it's nice to see some images from the Sunday morning mixed.  Love the B&W stuff... the photo of Roger and Gordon is a great mood shot.

Thanks to Stephen and Matthew for their images, which bring the events of the annual picnic to life those of us who couldn't be there. Wonderful work, guys. Thanks also to all the volunteers who made things happen. Looking forward to visiting in October.
