As I think I have said before - Extend the passenger platform north. It does not have to be a full
locomotive length, just enough to clear the Fouling Point. That would simplify operations without having to
cross Cross Road. (in the near term)

Sitting here today thinking what am I thankful for. It is moments like this, 2 years ago.

To this this fall

And thinking about all the work in between the 2 locations. In just two years. We have done an incredible amount ourselves. Thankful for all the friends I have made and continue to make. Thankful to be part of one of the best organizations going.

I made a final trip down the Mountain today to retrieve Casey. Thinking ahead, I gassed up a saw and brought it with me in case there was a tree down. And just so happens, there was one by the Wall.

I fired up the saw and bang, the chain came off. No tools with me. Well crud I said. Thinking I could clear it, I nosed ahead to get the equipment car under the tree, then used a bar and limbed the tree. 52 fit withroom to spare.

Just past location 9, the track laid this fall starts. Very nice looking, even with the sags and high spots.

Looking at Location 10.

Made it to EOT, and got Casey fired up and loaded.

Time to move this thread back to the top of the list.. Work is continuing, so we should include it here.

I had been tasked with acquiring the center pivot for the B&SR Turntable that is on loan to us from Maine Narrow Gauge. So with their permission, I removed it from the concrete base it was attached to. Some one had previously cut the nuts off in an attempt to remove it. This is what I found when I looked at it in January.

Today, I came prepared. It was cemented to the base with a mortar, that they also used as a leveling compound. Locked it in good. My plan was use the air hammer to remove the mortar, then drill under and use some feather and wedges to pop it loose.

Only it didn't pop loose. That mortar was up in the bolt holes. I kept after it, using air to blow away the loose stuff around the bolts.

I could see daylight underneath after about 40 minutes of work. I was winning, but it was fighting my efforts.

An hour into it, and almost got it..

Ready for loading. This thing is heavy. I repositioned my truck so I could slide it in. If it ever hit the ground, I think I would have struggled getting it into the truck.

No wonder why it fought me..

Loaded with the tools of the morning..

A look at the now empty crumbling base

You could have asked for assistance rather than have all the fun yourself. Nonetheless, a job well done!

Are you going to have a center pivot cast, using this one as a template?

This will leave little doubt as to where it came from. The casting has B & S R R R. in it, as seen below..

At this time no plans to replocate this center pivot are planned. We had the one cast for our Sheepscot Turntable, and should still have the pattern for that should we need another.

Fun fact,

The original B&SR pattern for this center pivot exists, as well as the turntable side counterpart. Just some of the gems of Maine 2ft history that have been preserved over the years. Thanks for making sure this casting got saved, Mike!

But 8am on a Sunday is early for some people.

8am on a Sunday is pretty early for an air chisel, too.

Small one. No louder than a weed whacker, and no houses around. Generator made the most noise.
