Wow!  The ROW opened up really well.  Great job guys!  Looks like a whole bunch of wood still to come down to Sheepscot for splitting and stacking.  I assume its not firm enough yet to get a pickup truck in to pick stuff up.

Thanks, Mike.
You Sheepscot Supermen have done it again!
Congratulations, also for the successful Easter Eggspress.

A great prelude to this coming weekend's 2019 SWW.  ;)

Rick Sisson has done some surveying and led a crew to get ready for the next leg of the extension. Here are some photos of the curve between location 10 and 11. These stakes mark the centerline, and will help guide the grading work trough the curve.

Excited for this Fall.  Is the plan to add some stone and regrade the remaining surface to the bridge?  That area seemed a bit swampy when took a walk down there.

The grade from end of track to the bridge needs to be graded to get the old ties and stumps out, rebuild the ditch on the East side and put in rip rap rock and fill as needed. That work will begin once the permit dates are effective again as the wetland permit we have is only good 3 months per year for two years. This being the second year on the permit.

For the Fall Work Weekend our goal is to build 2,000' of track. Which will require 150 rails, 300 joint bars, 1,000 ties, 4,000 spikes, and 600 bolts and washers to be readied ahead of time.

Will a runaround track just before Rt 218 be part of the FWW tracklaying or will that come later?

I think that will depend on if there's a switch available to be installed when we get there.

Is there enough room that we could run ballast from EOT next year rather than taking the heavy stone trains down the mountain?

I think the plan is to get the track across the bridge and close to 218 at 2019 FWW, then ballast and tamp at 2020 SWW.  That allows 2020 FWW to put in the siding and switches, and perhaps even ballast what was missed at SWW.  Finally 2021 SWW is for whatever is left to do before the grand opening.  Hopefully there'll be very little to do.

James is correct. Fall Work Weekend will see track laid as far as possible, with the siding laid the following year.

There is no room to load ballast there, but we may have some loads delivered there and put down as a base. We will not be able to do this south of the siding due to it will be too narrow after we dress it up a little unless we use our truck, which means loading it at AC or Sheepscot, and trucking it up, and doing it a little at a time. I had hoped to do that last fall, but time was up.

Joe, do we have all the materials stated above?  Understand from Fred's post that ties need to be cut.  Unfortunately all, we can contribute is money towards the effort.  We are trying to decide where to specify our donations to WWFRy this year, in addition to next year's annual budget.  Thanks
