Visited with Mike today onsite.  I wanted to personally see the progress down at 218.  He showed me where the run-around is going to be.

We all owe so much to Mike and Joe (the track maintenance nudge) that it's hard to express...

No wood today- gravel in the way! Treated some timbers and 2 go-fer runs to Ames.

Go-fer runs to Ames.

Go-fer runs.... now that is something I am qualified for.

Of course I had to get my training book issued, attend two classes on the duties and responsibilities of 'go-fering' then I had a 20 hours of OJT training to make sure I knew the proper way to 'go-fer.  Then there was the GO-FER Written Test, and finally the oral quiz and 'go-fer' operational test.

Of course I always attend the annual Rules Review to keep my 'Go-fer' qualification current.

Oh, the joys of being entrusted with responsibilities related to helping preserve Maine's important 2-footer railroad history.

Fred has his minions, although I don't believe any work quite as hard as Fred.

What–me worry?

Sorry Fred.  Had to order some for Saturday, and this was the last day he could deliver this week.

Must  admit I wondered what Fred actually did...until...I spotted that big pile of hauled-in, cut up trees in the Sheepscot lot.
Go, Fred!  :D

Fred and Al showed up, right on time, and I helped them cut and load the first load. They left and unloaded it, came back, with wedges, and he cut and I split the bigger pieces. They left and returned again before lunch, and took the last of the wood.

I leveled the gravel contractor Jeff left.

I then dug the last ditch, and cut down the high spot the logs were on. I drove the tractor up after lunch and lugged the tailings to the curve to build up the inner slope.

All that is left for me will be level the gravel that contractor Jeff will bring. I will move the equipment out Saturday morning when I finish grading, moving south to the access road and walking the equipment in to location 5.

Slide repair is on hold while the ground dries out again.

Looking at the bridge location.

Mike,  any plan to bring a vibratory roller in to get compaction up before final grading?

Loaded dump truck, 60,000#s. No better roller than that. Actually a roller would not be bad, but in trying to keep costs down, that is one thing that we can do without.
