Well, the Weather Bureau did an excellent job of scaring people away this weekend. Doom and Gloom, heavy rain and winds - and guess what? It did not happen during daytime hours!
SVCA got so scared by the weather forecast that they moved all the Septemberfest activities off the railroad and over to their headquarters building at Sheepscot Village.
But despite the gloom and doom forecast, and moving everything but the train rides off the railroad, paid attendance on the trains was 106, with Septemberfest SVCA/WW&F volunteers adding another 13 to the festivities.
We credited 87 passengers to Septemberfest, and 32 to WW&F as they came only to ride our train.
It is obvious that with good weather, we would have had at least twice the visitors, so let's hope for better weather next year.
With two weekends this month basically rained out, September's total ridership was the lowest in the last 4 years.
