Talk about an attitude adjustment weekend! Over the last three days of steam at the museum, we have had almost 300 revenue passengers on our trains - setting an all time June weekend attendance record!
If you had asked me last weekend, I would have predicted a dismal season for the WW&F - but with this weekends revenue, visitor attendance, and volunteer enthusiasm surge - I think we may be headed for a very solid season indeed. Although our April thru June passenger counts are small, we have exceeded previous years total - and with some of the most terrible weather ever.
Thanks to all of our volunteers - and to those who worked hard to get our many groups to visit so far this year. This weekend alone we had 62 from the Railway & Locomotive Historical Society, ladies from the Bristol Extension of the University of Maine, a birthday group of 22 who hired the caboose for the afternoon, a large group of James Patten's fellow State employees and their families, and 15 or 20 from the Maine Two Foot Mini-Meet organized by Frank Knight with the help of the Boothbay Railway Village.
