The No.10 crew had great success today! But only 1 photo.
We got the connecting rods off the crosshead.
Built a pulling jig to separate the piston rod from the crosshead safely. Which we did.
We then pulled the cylinder heads off for removal of the pistons. Removed said pistons and care and protected them. (Wrapped up and set in the cab with labels.) (Please dont touch)
Cleaned, quick inspection, and lubrication of the cylinder bores, and put the covers back in place. Put rags in the hole where the piston rod passed through the rear of the cylinder.
Reconnected the connecting rods along with the keys as to not lose them. Overall great progress was made. Absolutely proud of the care that showed up today to help. New volunteer Shawn Doyle, and Benton Hayes. (Dan showed up late though and left early. Maybe he needed a nap
) all in all it was a great day! Next up is measuring for new rings and grinding the saddle to smokebox adapter casting!
See you on the rails!!
