Bill,

I'm all set with both your home # in ME and your cell # from the first time you and I chatted last year.  I'll probably just contact the chamder directly about the print.

No Stewart, I don't. I was unable to get one as I started a little late on that one project and I was not sure if I was going to be able to be back up there. Hopefully next year  when we have gotten up a little more head of steam (funds). Thanks for asking. Bridgton Bill

I got one of those prints for Christmas and it is fabulous.  It is based on a photo of #8 taken along the shore of Hancock Pond.  In the print the loco is #7 and the two swimmers who are in the photo have been left out (for which I am grateful).

Mine is going to be framed shortly and hung much to my wife's dislike, next to my other B&SR paintings (By Bill Paxton) so I can see it every day.

TO ALL -FYI  The second print in the series of 4 Bridgton & Saco River RR prints will be coming out around the 1st of April. It will be the Summer scene and will have # 1 drifting into North Bridgton. It is a view taken from one of my unpublished photos. It is circa 1900's. Call the Lakes Region Chamber of Commerce for more info @ 207-647-3472. There are great things starting to take shape in Bridgton as it pertains to the railroad and its return. I hope to have more info to report shortly. All proceeds go to further the effort to return equipment and some rail to Bridgton. Thanks to all for your support as we move forward with this effort. Anyone up for laying some Rail???  ::) :o ;D  Bill Shelley Return of The Rail

Hi Bill,

After reading your hints, I was inspired to do a little Google search and came up with the following URLs:

The first is a community news piece entitled "Inside Bridgton" by Carrye Castelman-Ross.  It starts off with a very interesting piece outlining the national exposure Bridgton has been getting lately.  This is followed by the report that a significant local development is being planned.  It looks like it will encompass the entire Depot Street area.

The URL for this is:  http://www.keepmecurrent.com/news/Print.cfm?StoryID=63908

The second story is entitled, "New economic director honing vision for town's future."  It reports upon the results of a 3-day "Charette" held recently in Bridgton to solicit community input for the Depot Street develpment.  More than 50 local residents participated in this economic development planning event and the results from these sessions paint a very exciting picture of what this development could look like.

The community interest in recapturing their narrow gauge heritage is remarkable (EVERY Charette group wanted it) and the narrow gauge could well be the single element that anchors the entire project.

Check this story out at URL:  http://www.keepmecurrent.com/news/Print.cfm?StoryID=64010

Lest you think this whole project a pipe dream, you should know that Bridgton's new economic development direct is Alan S. Manoian.  He's the person who revitalized Lowell, Massachusetts.

Check it out!

Best Regards,
Glenn

Sounds like Bridgton Bill and company's efforts have begun to pay off.  I'll bet having that flanger on display there has stirred up some interest.

Who'd have thunk it?  I think everyone's perception was still that the railroad was not welcome.  I'm glad to be wrong!

James  I sure would like to know where that perception came from. I think that the Charette that was held last weekend will go a long way to dispelling the rumors and that perception. There are still a few out there from away ,that are in power, that think that this is going down the wrong road and have become verbal naysayers. It's my hope that they will see the light of day soon and become positive supporters of the project. I know that when I put the 1st print in the 4 print series on the 4 Seasons on the B&SR up for sale to raise funds and awareness, it was the towns people that bought 40 out of the 50 limited edition prints. When I went around to everyone in town asking for help when I started this project, no matter how big or small the request was, EVERYONE pitched in. That in itself has told me that I was on the right track (no pun intended). I can not wait till the snow melts and we can get back to finishing the platform and making arrangments to get another piece of historic equipment back home to Bridgton. I believe that this project could and will benefit all in the narrow gauge community including the MNG. I would like to thank all that have helped to date and invite anyone that has an interest in what we are trying to do in Bridgton, to come join us. All are welcome! Bill Shelley  Return of The Rails

A series of 4 pictures. I'm going to need to free up some wall space.
