First Steam Engine Across Britannia Bridge
« on: March 23, 2009, 08:08:21 AM »
The first steam engine to cross the Britannia Bridge in Porthmadog under its own power since the late 1950s ran this morning when NG/G16 No.87 left the FR to enter service on the WHR. Winson carriage No.2090, which has been converted to a service car at Boston Lodge with the installation of a toilet and improved storage facilities for refreshment trolley stores, went with it.

The train crossed the Cambrian Coast standard-gauge line later in the morning and is currently en route to Dinas. Halts will be made en route for further photography.
