Obituary - Elbert H. Lambert - Worked on SR&RL Railroad
« on: March 05, 2010, 05:53:02 PM »
News item from last week: Elbert H. Lambert, Strong, ME., passed away Sunday, Feb. 28,2010.  Quoting from the Morning Sentinel obituary published March 3, 2010: " Elbert graduated from Strong High School in 1933 and went to work on The Sandy River & Rangeley Lakes Railroad.  Many evenings after his shift was over, he would catch the Rangeley train from Strong and ride the railroad to Wings Crossing in Avon where the engineer would slow the train so Elbert could jump off and visit a certain redhead------."  I never met Mr. Lambert, but he sure had a very colorful run at life.  First hand stories of those Narrow Gauge workers are going quickly these days.  I sure hope his recollections were captured.  RIP
