First Class Train Crew
« on: December 13, 2025, 08:30:37 PM »
The train crew manning the VC runs on Dec.13th was the sharpest looking crew I've witnessed since becoming a participating member of the museum. With so much sincere effort expended by all the volunteers to present the WW&F as it was, it was refreshing to see todays' crew take the extra personal step of authentic portrayal via their manner of dress. The old photos will show that passenger train crews were sometimes more informal on small everyday operations, but for excursions and other special events they took pride in doing the importance of their positions justice.  A hearty "Well Done!" to the conductor and trainmen today!

Didn't have a good free moment to do pix, a busy day for all including myself. Hopefully another member has some photos to share?

Here's one photo of yesterday's crew, taken near the end of the day at Alna Center.

And here's why Earl couldn't get any photos -- he was busy talking with our visitors in the shop building.  He did an excellent job sharing the WW&F story.
We want...A SHRUBBERY!  One that looks nice, and not too expensive.

Those are great photos!

Seeing Earl at work with the visitors, I wondered if some folding chairs for the guests and a rostrum for Earl to talk from might be helpful. I know it is late in the season now, but maybe next year...

Wanted: Copies of correspondence and photographs from "first generation narrow gage railfans" such as Linwood Moody, Dick Andrews, Lawrence Brown, Ellis Atwood, H.T. Crittenden and others. Interested in all two foot (U.S.) rail operations, common carrier, industrial/mill and park/museum.

I know you're kidding, right Bruce?? Zack and I have a sort of roving tag team approach to showing off the projects. Rostrums, power point presentations and the like are not within the scope of the shops' tradition oriented mission statement!
