Work done on Saturday Nov 2:

* Tie and Dine: a very good crew for it, ties were replaced, track lined and tamped south of Humason Brook Trestle.
* Engine house: Stewart was building shelving in the "clean" room.
* GMC truck and trailer: Brendan was installing new seats in the truck, and finishing up loading up for a trip south to get the last hopper car (leaving tonight).
* Cub Scouts: did some cleanup, got a train ride.
* XCart: Jason and crew were working on it.
* Wiring: Josh was wiring up the "new" press in the machine shop.  It now squishes things.

Work done on Saturday Nov 9:

* Mountain cutting - Mike cut down 4 trees over the course of the day between Fossel crossing (so-called) and Top of Mountain, with a large crew of helpers to limb and toss debris into the chipper.
* Tamping and ballasting - Dan and his crew tamped further north of where we were cutting, then went back after the cutting stopped to ballast it.
* Marcel was manning our table at a train show.
* Board meeting
* I suspect someone was in the machine shop working on something, and that Stewart was painting - but I didn't observe that.

Some photos of today's tree cutting by Pete Moxley.

Also a shout out to Kevin and Whitney who joined our volunteer crews today; both were first time visitors to the WW&F who heard about the event from Facebook.

Anticipated work for Saturday Nov 16:

- There's nothing on the calendar, and some volunteers are off hunting or working elsewhere - so many of the normal crew aren't around.

* Engine house - mainly painting and organizing
* Loco 11/Loco 9/machine shop work

It would be a great day for track work or removing overgrowth from the right of way, if anyone cared to lead an effort for that.

This is just out of curiosity but my mind has wandered. I don't know how you all feel about this but if it's possible I would like to put up a temporary Christmas tree next to Sheepscot station that would remain there for the weekends of Victorian Christmas. The tree would likely just be decorated with lights to keep it simple. If this is something that is doable I'll most likely devote part of Saturday looking for one.

Steve gave me the idea of looking for a tree on our property so that's what I'll do first before resulting in looking at getting one from a tree farm.

I love Mike's idea.  Is there someone who can get a decent sized tree dug/balled that we can plant outside the station?  I'd throw in a few bucks to help that happen.  Anyone else ???

I second that. Are there any Christmas tree farms in the area that sell live trees?

Who is going to decorate it 10 years on, after it becomes 20 feet tall?

How about a surplus bucket truck fitted with high-rail gear for two foot gage, and a cup holder?
Wanted: Copies of correspondence and photographs from "first generation narrow gage railfans" such as Linwood Moody, Dick Andrews, Lawrence Brown, Ellis Atwood, H.T. Crittenden and others. Interested in all two foot (U.S.) rail operations, common carrier, industrial/mill and park/museum.

Check with Brendan before anything happens with a tree.  He will be setting the flagpole up in the lawn somewhere near the depot - between the station and Cross Road.
