So, how did the trailer get a bend in it?

The trailer had been stored for years upside down awaiting paint and wheel/axle/tire installation. I finished that this winter and in the process of turning it over one of the siderails bent. That is non structural. So we bought new steel to replace the bent cross pieces.it is now better than before.

Doesn't the railway have a similar flat trailer on rail wheels? I haven't seen it in awhile but kind of remember it hauling the Kubota?

Yes, we use it to transport the small Case dozer and old Kubota. I don't think I used it last year due to the work being in Sheepscot.

I apologize for missing several weeks, it has been a hectic month.

We will be watching weather to plan some track maintenance activities.  We had planned and hoped to have the XCart in service in time for some track work by now, but as it is not ready, we will need to address some areas without it.  We will, however watch the heat forecast and plan accordingly.  Please keep an eye out for this and help us when we need that upwelling of crew.

Thanks
Jason

Tuesday 7/23: Morning Steam Charter with many children

We DEFINATELY need help with this. There will be 200 kids here divided into two groups. So 100 kids will be riding the train, while the other 100 are touring the yards, shop, car barn, getting handcar rides, turntable demonstration, etc. We need help manage and supervise these activities (and extra help on the train ride too.)

Tuesday's forecast is RAIN - which will complicate this even further. Please reach out to me, Steve P, JB, or Dan if you are available to help.

I will be there in the morning and will help wherever needed.
My hope was to continue the necessary trimming at Head Tide and along the ROW.
But you can put me to work where needed the most.

As an add-on to Friday the 26th, I will be arriving with castings and patterns returning from Cattail Foundry.  I am assuming there will be patterns ready to load to return to Cattail.

Work done on Tues, 7/23

Chartered trains:
* Lisbon Day Camp, we hosted 150 or so campers and their chaperones for a day on the RR - many thanks to everyone who stepped up to crew the (two) trains and keep the children entertrained.

* UMaine Coop Extension, we hosted roughly 20 students from the UMaine Coop Extension who were visiting SeaLyon Farm to learn about agritourism. They were very impressed.

Other work:
* Framing started for the smoke jack in Engine House Bay 3.
* Jerry and Carlos are trucking along.
* Machine Shop work
* Coach 9 work
* X-Cart "Dave" work
* Trimming of brush around the SS campus
