Thanks for posting some progress photos, Bill.
Latest efforts have focused on the brake system, which is now largely done save for some heavy component welding to the main frame. That will wait to be grouped with other heavy welding.
Next attention will be on jackstand construction. This will begin with subassembly weldment fabrication in the shop, followed by some mag-drill work on the telescoping tubes. Following this, the hydraulic cylinders will be fitted to the tubes, along with their hydraulic hard plumbing. Finally- the jackstands will be ready for their heavy component welding to the cart frame. That will be a job unto itself, which will include the final brake component welding.
That will be the majority of the main assembly of the cart. After this, we will fabricate a stand for the HPU and install it over the floating wheel carriage (with Brendan’s help), then turn full attention to the hydraulic system. The hydraulic system will be constructed as a manual system, then retrofitted to be remote controlled.
We consider the cart capable of hauling the excavator anywhere on the railroad now- via towing.
Thanks again for highlighting this Bill- I do appreciate it.
