I am not a beer drinker, but I bet we could make a deal with any of the local brew companies for a 'Beer and back' train trip.

Maybe a bigger bash with several breweries set up  in the pavilion for a beer taste party.

To be clear, this was a tongue in cheek suggestion. I believe we have a blanket 'No Alcohol on Campus' rule.

There are several gin distilleries in Maine now. 

Any gin named "Piston" has to be good.  I wonder how they infuse the coal... or maybe I don't want to know.
They do look like they're having so much fun!

The rule about alcohol applies to on duty train crews and volunteers on site. There is no explicit prohibition against alcohol at WW&F events. That said, each event (or charter) where alcohol is to be consumed is subject to Presidential and/or BOD approval. Moreover, the WW&F is not responsible for sales, etc.; these event must be catered and licensed by an outside vendor.

Maine Tasting Center used to provide drinks at certain events at SeaLyon Farm and concerts at Alna Center. Their business model has shifted, so they are no longer doing that.
We are working with Maine Tasting Center on an educational evening built upon Prohibition Era drinks. This event is still in development, but will likely be in Sept 2024.

Now that we have a pavilion, and hopefully a BBQ pit in the future (hint hint) - we could definitely advertise a BBQ and Beer outing.  Of course we would need more tables and benches along with the pit.

We actually are doing a BBQ train this year, and had a wedding that featured BBQ last year. All of the meat was prepared offsite though.

When Annie and I got married we had a pit on a trailer come and roast a whole hog. I like that because the pit is the responsibility of the caterer, rather than us.

I am sort of amused by the coal infused gin. I assumed they meant charcoal, which a little research confirmed. First taste the for coal infused gin includes a primary flavor of desiccated dinosaur and plant matter with light heavy metal notes. Works best in mixed drinks with a carbon-dated beverage.

I think we should (which I believe is how it is) have to approve any alchohol event as a board. Also, the rule should apply to everyone (you can't show up as a guest and start drinking in the parkinglot) (which again is how I believe it is), not just restricted to crew. I have other opinions on the matter as well, that reach far beyond the museum..
