Planning on being there Thurs - Monday God willing.  Is there anything needed to be picked up at Cattail Foundry?  Will also bring the car heater (in pieces) as there is no way I can lift it into my truck.  Also, is there anyone needing to put in an order for Catawissa Moxie?  Glass bottles at $19/case.  Don't wait to the last minute for Moxie orders as I won't be able to turn that around quickly.

John, there are a bunch of castings in progress at Cattail.  We don't know the status, since we lost Wayne as our main interface.  Would you be willing to check and see if they have any finished that could be brought up to Maine?

Harold,

I can make it out there.  I don't know if they have a phone but in person would probably be more effective.  Does anyone have a list of items that are in-process?  That will help get me up to speed a lot faster.

Thanks

Thursday-Monday Oct 6-9
Forman Bullet Longo assisted by Gandy Dancer Baskerville.  Remove all equipment and decking from spray/fire tank car and preform complete rebuild.  The new fire provisions will meet the AVFD standards for woods fire suppression including water volume (275 gal), hose length (75') and speed refiling of backpack fire pumps (30 sec).  The new spray provisions will allow the entire RR length, including yards, to be treated with one trip down and back, utilizing the turntables at each end.  The speed refiling of hand sprayers allows us to take appropriate precautions at sensitive areas around Trout Brook and runoff areas into Trout Brook along with appropriate considerations for areas where our visitors might possible traverse.  The larger tank will provide spray capacity for future track growth the town line and perhaps to Head Tied.  Additional modifications include a stable operator chair and operator safety rail.  Addition of a cup holder remains an optional consideration.

On Thursday Oct 6 a few minor repairs to 52 may also be accomplished: winter charger reconnect and front ditch lights repair.  The spray/fire car activities will take place Thursday thru Monday except for Saturday when the team will be assisting Pumpkin Train operations.

Complete rebuild? I built that for a fire car, and the use has been modified to include weeds. A way to go from weed to fire service quickly would be a great modification.

Mike,  Great comment.

Our plans include better storage of fire suppression tools, a spray wand retractable hose reel for quicker access and very rapid refilling of back pack suppression tanks.  The goal is to get suppression storage out of the bottom of the car and all the stuff that tends to accumulate there.  As noted above in the revised posting changes in volume and options meet or exceed what the AVFD provides on their woods fire suppression vehicles.  Our thanks to Start for a tour of the AVFT woods suppression equipment to enable us to design to achieve this goal.

Going from 90 gallons to 275 is a great improvement, but adds a lot of weight. I wonder how the Brookville will handle it.
