Partial list of work done on Saturday July 1:

* Engine house: Insulation, plastic sheeting, and the narrow boards to hold the sheathing.
* Grass: Fred mowed the lawn, and Bill R weed whacked at Trout Brook.
* Boxcar 56: Marcel was soldering the roof.
* First day of Lavender trains.  I was involved so was not able to check up if there were other projects.

Dave and I weed whacked at Trout Brook in the morning, per Jason's request here, and I went back out after lunch.  A few photos.

Before weed whacking this morning.

Dave and I cut between north end of track and the Trout Brook south switch in the morning.  Weather was cloudy and a bit humid, but manageable.  Late morning, Dave is working in the distance on the west side near the switch.

And Dave enjoying a well earned break after, before we headed back to Sheepscot for lunch.

After lunch, I returned and cut between Trout Brook south switch and the trail crossing.  The sun was now out.  After the 1.45 p.m. southbound train departed Trout Brook station, I was cooked enough to say 'done,' and walked to pull my flag from south of the bridge.  Walking back north, here is today's view of the bridge and Trout Brook, looking northward.

Walking further northward, a view looking northward across the south switch at Trout Brook, giving some sense of the brush cut.

The two northbound train trips I saw today looked well patronized.  Busy day.
We want...A SHRUBBERY!  One that looks nice, and not too expensive.

I hope the Lavender trains were well attended.

Over 200 passengers carried today. Not bad, a "sellout" would be about 300.

Thank you Bill and Dave for the weed whacking!  It looks great in your photos- I look forward to seeing it in person.

The photos aptly illustrate the annual growth of foliage along the line and call out the need to complete the development and operation of ROWMOW-1.

Row mow would help by reaching some of this, but much of this is beyond the reach of that machine.  Most of the rest of the railroad gets treated out to the ditches.  Row mow would reduce some of the hand work burden, however.

Thanks

Gail will be doing lunch this coming Saturday. Note there is an untouched lasagna in the refrigerator for the Wednesday crew that can be heated up.
