I can't believe I am contemplating splitting a discussion thread in "Whimsical Weirdness and Foolery" due to MASSIVE topic drift from winning the MegaMillions to who makes the best sub.

Hey subs are very important, though here in RI we call them grinders, er grinda's

That's Dynamite! I keep supplies for making Grinders, Wieners, and Coffee Milk in a special Cabinet.

How's THAT for topic drift?

I grew up in southeastern Mass. (Edaville land).  There it was subs, hot dogs and (yes) coffee milk.  We always had a bottle of coffee syrup in the house.  Eclipse, I think, but it might have been Autocrat.

And, BTW, it was soda, not tonic.

Graham, I can only speak for myself. While it's not my first choice, its the convivence that works for me. Gas up my car and my belly. :). However I prefer an actual sandwich shop over that anytime.

Graham,

Wawa started off as a deli, farm stand, and dairy.  They combined and created the mini-stores similar to 7-11.  Gas pumps were added much later in it's corporate existance.   Corporate HQ is in (you guessed it) Wawa, PA.

This is a marvellous thread. In reality, if the dream of untold riches were to come true, it would destroy the WW&F as we know it, today. It is the struggle that makes the organisation the success that it is. I dare say everyone is aware of that.

However, I am greatly stimulated by the brilliant notion of obtaining land from the town in order to build a new station for the WW&F on the site of the old Maine Central Wiscasset station!

I imagine that there must be land that would need to be secured, along the way, for that idea to bear fruit. How much land, in fact?

All of the ROW in Wiscasset (except for one small parcel) would need to be acquired.

We could do with a WW&F variation of Exmoor Associates in the UK. I don't exactly know how that would work from a legal perspective, but the idea is interesting.

Seem like a more practical route is to build a bit more track across Hwy 218, then do an intermodal transfer to the SS Wiscassett   8) running on the Sheepscot River  to make our entrance into Wiscasset proper.   Looks like that could be done at one of the river curves:

I think double tracking is the way to go.
