World's Longest Passenger Train

The train and the scenery are fantastic. From this comment and others I've seen that used the magic words "field phone," they evidently used a field phone line for communication between the crews due to the many bridges and tunnels.

"Btw, the train was operated by 7 conductors and 21 technicians. To ensure a stable communication also in the tunnels, a purpose-built cable reel phone line was used."

I hereby pledge to implement a similar system should we ever run a train of similar length over similar bridges and through similar tunnels.

By the way, I'm pleased to say that I have ridden and photographed this meter-gauge line. :-)

The video of this train, moving, in mountain territory, where there are multiple loops, is somewhat mesmerizing.  What you see in the photo  below is all one train, but the various segments move in different directions across the screen .

Before or after we install the catenary?

Michelle and I did as well, 27(!) years ago.  I highly recommend experiencing the Rhaetian Railway (Rhätische Bahn) to anyone who ventures to Switzerland.
What–me worry?

My favorite feature was a spiral tunnel followed by a viaduct across a valley to another mountain, through a spiral in that mountain, and than back across to another spiral within the first mountain!

John,
I guess you are referring to the line Bergün - Preda on the Albula Bahn. Totally confused about directions each time you exit a tunnel:

Absolutely fascinating railway and country, there is a strong feeling about being shrunk to a very small size and travelling through a model railway that is not very realistic and never has seen a weathering airbrush. Everything is clean and fresh out of the box.
