An echo of the 1890s promotion for the Wiscasset & Quebec

History repeats itself.  Just spotted this ad on the Wiscasset Newspaper website:



The first line echoes the promotional material to build the W&Q.

That etching of Wiscasset pre-dates the construction of the W&Q/WW&F. The track (and train) represent the Knox & Lincoln Railroad (later the Maine Central Rockland Branch.)

The W&Q/WW&F was constructed on pilings in the river, roughly where the ships are docked in the drawing. The pier in the upper right was removed prior to the construction of the narrow gauge.
