I take it that the Kubota is back in service.

The only thing that was wrong with the Kubota was the hydraulic brake. I have chased the line to where it goes through the center pivot. I suspect the o-rings are wearing out and allowing oil to bypass. So capped off for now. The one downfall will be no brake while digging. If it bothers I can simply hook it back up.

Just a few other tidbits, or what I did this summer.  Bob Longo and I made a few enhancements to our sprayer/fire cart and after a full work out, prepared it for the remainder of the year.

An electric heated automatic drain valve was installed on 52's air tank.  When making the electrical connections behind the control panel several defects were discovered and corrected.  The Air Compressor Governor which had been acting up was replaced.  The bell ringer which was installed last year and had become persnickety was replaced with the one I repaired.  I have the offending one to rebuild before the FWW. 

A comparison of 53's 1940's electrical schematic and the current wiring was made in an attempt to clarify what changes may have been made over the past 80 years.  It was discovered that a couple of resistor banks had been removed for reasons yet unknown.  Some wiring has been terminated and some additional wiring has also been added.  The fun begins.

* Basement cleanout - cleaning up the corner of the basement from the stairs to the outside door.  Much of it is going in the trash.

*  Track crew starts down the mountain leveling a low west rails.

*  Vacuum brake testing continues with successful testing (Jonathan)
*  Mowing AC (Randy), the north fields (Jay Barta)
*  Machine shop clean up, flange ways cleaned out.  (Fred)
*  Campus clean up and trash run  (Stewart)
*  Engine house work  (Brendan, Stewart)
*  Coach #9 assembly/build  (Eric, Ron)
*  Trout Brook Station build continued  (Zack)
*  Gift shop cabinet build (Randy) moved into freight station (Randy, Cindy R, Stewart, Steve Lt, Dan)
*  Oiling/greasing rolling stock (Phil B)

Wednesday:
*  Engine house build continued (Brendan/Stewart)
*  Track crew ballasting, leveling prep, jacks installed north of Fossil Crossing.

Also this week, I was notified of a Handicap ramp that was for sale in my area. I contacted the seller and stopped Monday night after work to look at it.



It was a very good price, so it was decided to purchase it. Sometimes if you wait, these deals disappear. So Tuesday night..


 
Made for a long day, but worth it. 12 hours at work, then home to grab the truck and trailer.. It took the home owner and I 2 hours to get it apart and loaded.
