From an email from the Town:
Depending on weather, work related to Cross Road repaving approved at this year's town meeting is expected to begin next week. This work represents a large financial commitment on behalf of Alna's taxpayers.
According to the Maine Department of Transportation, and the Maine Municipal Association, "improper drainage is the leading cause of road deterioration. Ditches and drains are therefore a critical aspect of road maintenance." With this in mind, and to protect the investment being made in this project, the ditching and grading contractor will begin ditching and ditching maintenance along both sides of Cross Road during the week of April 18, 2022. Initial ditching work is expected to be complete within the next two weeks.
Most or all of the paving is expected to take place during the month of May. An additional notice will be sent, once a firmer paving schedule is available. During this time, Cross Road may be closed intermittently to through traffic, with access being available only to residents of Cross Road. Please plan accordingly. Your patience is greatly appreciated.
