I installed the frame on the left side then proceded to put the spring and top roller mount together. I had to compress the spring to get the through bolt started, and this is what I came up with.

Once I got the bolt started through the nut, the fun started. I bolted the bracket to the frame temporarily to hold while I cranked with the 4 foot ratchet..

Uncompressed spring versus compressed. That was a lot of cranking. Need a big air gun..

I like what you came up with to compress the spring in the first photo. Great idea.

Due to the increase in Covid positivity rates in the area, I think we will put off the cutting and burning for a week. And it is supposed to be cold again with a sub-zero wind chill..

Put off the cutting and burning. Well  you're right but at this rate you won't be soon out of the woods. Just Kiding but what else you can do facing that never ending pandemic. Stay safe and healthy you all and go on keeping your spirits up.

Funny Alain. Humor is always good.

Seriously though, the trees can wait. Keeping our volunteers safe as we deal with a 3rd wave of this pandemic. I'd rather postpone work than take any chances.

Not a good day to be outside. The sun is deceiving.

Nlt much happened today. Just me working and Fred fetched some Kerosene. I did go for a quick walk to check the beaver situation out.. Found a new dam..

Bottom rolls are on both sides of the dozer except lne each. Left a spot for blocking. Boths spring assemblies are done as well. And some quick painting..

And I am still amazed to see this. 85 years after the rail was removed..

Well Dam it..

Most of the Tramway de Pithiviers à Toury main tracks were laid at the back side of the road and  when the grass has been newly mowed you can still spot the place of the cross ties here and there like on your picture but then again the tracks were only removed in 1964. I was really astonnished when I first discovered that.
