Dana and I fully set a spike using two fist mauls FWW 2019. It was surprisingly easy. It's hard to miss the spike when it's less than a foot from your hand.

Actually, my favorite spike setting tool is a short handled 3 pound maul. I can drive a spike half way in or more with just a few whacks, and it's is not going to fly away when the real men start to pound away on it.
