A few photos from the Rules review today.

The morning session, broadcast online by Ed Lecuyer to crew members who were remote, was held in W&Q coach No. 3.

Portions of the afternoon sessions were held outside.  Here Jason was presenting.

Beautiful day today, though it was a tad bit warm in the summer sun.  A portion of the afternoon Rules session moved back into the car barn for the shade.

Work done on Saturday July 24...
* Grass cutting - Fred, et. al. cut on our road down on our Fossel property.

I hear Zack was part of the et. al.

I also hear the evening Lavender trains were sold out.
What–me worry?

Yes. They. Were.

We carried about 150 passengers over the two Lavender trains (and one pickup run.) Lots of fun and the return trains smelled of lavender. We could have easily sold another block or two of tickets, had we had the capacity (mostly due to the tractor ride to the farm.) Next year we'll gear up for more dates/times.

Train crews this week: PLEASE take extra care to round up your flags and RETURN them to the station when finished. I am out of town until 8/3 and cannot perform my usual Clerk tasks in preparation for the photo charter(s). We cannot be searching for flags on Saturday morning.

There are two sets of fairly new red flags in service, one pair the usual size and one pair slightly oversized. They seem to get split up frequently. It would be nice if those were matched to each other and used for the photo runs, instead of some of the older ones that look like they were used wipe down #9's running gear :D

Work done Saturday July 31:

* SeaLyon Farm road - Mike was ditching the road he built last week, and left a spot for a culvert.
* Photo event - Locos 3, 6 and 7 in steam.  7 went out in the morning, 3 and 6 in the afternoon.  Jay and I switched a bunch of cars and locomotives, spotting the dead locos for the photo finale tonight.
* Loco 51 - Jay didn't get to do much on it except spray paint parts.

#9 was SRRL #6 today.

You have to get started pretty early to beat these 2. Fred on the left, Dwight on the right, do the behind the scenes work here, cutting the brush back on Fossel Rd. They were later joined by Zack, but I was already in the woods by then. I cut some stuff with a power saw after lunch they could not get, including some limbs along 218 to improve visibility to the North when pulling out.

The rain during the week dampened everything, including the new part of the farm loop. I added to the ditches, and back bladed with the dozer to try and smooth it up to help dry it.

We needed a culvert, but I wanted something that was cheap and tough. $100 for what is seen here. We will see how it holds up.

Did I forget to mention the mud?

As part of the collaboration with Sealyon Farms, we have been helping each other out, as seen by us doing the road. What is not seen is Don mowing TOM for us, and doing what he can to help things flow better, offering his tractor when he can. And in return, we help him when we can. There was a soft spot in the field that Don wanted a culvert in, but hadn't picked up the pipe yet. He wanted a hole dug so he could drop it in then backfill. Well, it is ready for him.

Stopped in to AC on the way back south, and grabbed a couple pics of the photographers grabbing pics. Here is one as #3 passes by southbound.

Thank you Mike for the report and pics. Starting up a partnership  with Sealyon Farms has really been a brillant idea.
