Make Way for Goslings

A couple of weeks ago I noticed a young goose family wandering on the ROW south of Sheepscot.  Last Saturday I caught them crossing Cross Road.  One of the parent was standing in the road keeping an eye on traffic and on the kids, and when I approached got the family together to cross over to the pond.  This week they were missing.  Stewart said that he saw a hawk show up this past week, and the family disappeared, so I hope that they found safer digs instead of becoming a meal.

I think the goslings and family are back.  Way down the right of way south of Cross Road this afternoon I saw what looked like a goose and the goslings - but they were way way down, and I didn't proceed down to get a closer look.

So apparently the answer to the proverbial question of "Why did the chicken goose cross the road?", is . . .  "to get to the pond!"
 


Punsters, please note that it was Cross Road that the chicken goose crossed.   

I'm sure there is an opportunity in there somewhere.

I can confirm not only one family with goslings, but two!

The first photo shows the two families on the lawn behind the station. 

The second photo shows them in the water.

No way of knowing if one of these is the original family, or different ones.  The geese refused to confirm or deny when asked, citing privacy laws.

Graham, you may be crazy but your eyes are sharp  .  Somehow I managed to add in the same photo twice (I didn't think I could do that).  I've corrected the photo and the captions.
