Drainage was fixed around the car barn Monday and Tuesday.

Stone was placed on the slope of the ditch on the west side of the car barn to stop the erosion of the bank from the water coming off the roof.

A large french drain was put in at the track doors to keep water out and prevent the frost heaves at the door openings.

Jeff grading inside the building to put the tracks back in.

Putting the bay one track back in.

Steve and Chuck bolting track two back together.

Another french drain was run down the east side wall from the culvert by the extension to the new drain by the track doors.

Stan and Ralph came up fron CT to work on some carpentry projects. They fixed the rotten window trim on Sheepscot Station and made a good start on repairing the Sheepscot section house.

Repaired window on the station.

The section house was raised 6 inches higher off the ground to keep the building drier. Stan and Ralph stripped the shingles, replaced the rotten lower sheathing boards, replaced the corner trim, fixed the rotted door threshold, and started the on the new shingles.

Work done on Saturday May 22*:

* Tie and Dine: A good crew worked from mid-way through Davis Curve, to the beginning of Davis Cut.  Approximately 40 ties were replaced.  The tamper crew started at the south end of Davis Curve, leveling the track and lifting joints all the way to the crossing, and then just tamped the ties after that.  The ticks were well represented.
* Section house: Stewart has inherited the shingling.
* Dirt moving: Fred moved more dirt before his clutch leg gave out.

* Because I was involved with the Tie & Dine crew, I can't report on everything that went on.

We did not have a chance to connect with Dan prior to the event to work out the exact usage of the machine.  The most important aspect of efficiency in a large crew project like today is that everyone understands their role.  Coming in to today, all the foreman and principal team members understood their roles from the first Tie and Dine quite well.  We’d hoped to rework the plan to include the tie changer for today’s event but just didn’t get there.  I still hope we can prior to next months Tie and Dine.

See ya
Jason

Pete, thanks for posting those photos and the  time lapse vids at the link (and thanks also to the young worker who made the images).

And for those of you who might not have clicked on that link yet, that link also had this photo of a [presumably] removed tie:
