Good job of work you guys. The smoke  jacks look pretty sound so I wonder how much they weigh.
I don’t think I would want to drop it on my toe!

The whole assembly should weigh around 900 lbs / 408 kg.

On my visit to Sheepscot today, I found much progress evident in bay 3 of the Morse Engine House.  This photo provides evidence.

The smoke jack for this bay has recently been painted and ceiling insulation installed.  Brendan has applied fire retardant to this bay's ceiling framing, and today I understand he applied fire retardant to about half of the bay 2 ceiling.
What–me worry?

will the smoke jacks be held up just by the roof or will stays be used?

After some trial and error the first smoke jack is hung.

To paraphrase the Xerox Super Bowl commercial where the Abbot congratulates Father Dominic for his manuscript and asks for 500 more, "Very nice, Brendan, two more copies, please."

Did you guys copy an old design? Or was it something that you made up for this project? I am curious!

The smoke jack for bay 2 is in.

Several people have asked how the pipe boots attach to the corrugated roofing.

Thanks, Brendan, for the photos.  Fantastic work.

I was curious how the jack was sealed from water infiltration on the roof.  Your last photo makes it clear how it's been done.

Nine under the middle smoke jack.

Exhaust fan installed on the west side of the engine house.

Isn't that going to pull air DOWN the stacks?

Or is that to pressurize the building inducing draft?

I noticed in one of the pictures that poor orphan 52 finally made it inside the engine house.

I am sure that both the locomotives and the people are going to be happy this winter when the air is freezing cold and the ground is covered with snow this winter. Great work everybody who build the Fred Morse Engine House!  TM WW&F Life Member,  Build 11 Contributor,
