Hey Paul,

Just thinking out loud here.  My wife's family hails from Milwaukee and I was wondering if there would be any possibility of bringing a bunch of real German Brats and potato salad from Usinger's to FWW.  We can supply the other fix'ins and the Moxie to wash it down.  I know the Pennsylvania contingent has a number of folks of German descent.  Just thinking/request - no pressure for a commitment.

As another "Away" member from Virginia, I welcome you to the "amalgamated volunteer railroad workers from Away" fold.  There are quite a few of us who travel from Texas, Tennessee, Virginia, Ohio, and other places who are joined by the "nearly Away" folks from Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, and other nearby states.

The rewards of joining our band of railroad volunteers will provide you with three major things.  First, being with a great group of friendly men and women with common goals.  Second, you will learn first hand how "real railroads" lay track, maintain roadbeds, fix rolling stock, maintain railroad facilities and, over time, operate trains.  Third, this will enhance the HOn3 side of your hobby activities.  Your new knowledge may enable you to become one of the "authorities" in the suburban Milwaukee model railroad arena on how it's really done.

Thanks for the kind words! I'm really looking forward to meeting the crew and helping out wherever the team wants me to.

John: I've never had a Moxie but would sure like to try some! My wife & I will be camping at Acadia the week before my arrival to Alna. I will freeze some Usinger's brats and take them along with us. I don't know how well the potato salad would taste after being frozen so I probably won't bring any of that. As we have a 12 volt freezer/cooler for the car and a fridge for the camper (our campsite in Bar Harbor has electricity) the brats will stay chilled. Our plan is to head to Wiscasset on the 5th and stay overnight at the Maine Tasting Center. I can stop by Alna on that day to drop off the brats if you'll be around - let me know. If your facility has a fridge I can just leave them in there. We then plan to head to Portland on the 6th and see the sights there. My wife flies back home from Portland the afternoon of the 7th. I'll then be working my way back up to Alna to help out on the 8th & 9th. As my "solo" portion of the trip is "open ended" I might also be able to also assist on the "work weekend" if need be and logistics permit.

My name is Emmett Reis and I just joined the forms! I'm from Concord MA and have loved railroading my entire life. I also love engineering and rocketry and go to a vocational high school where I do engineering. I've been to the WW&F 4 times before for work weekends and the most recent rules day. Loved it each time and hope to be back there soon!

I’m Mike Cougill from Indiana. I’ve been a long term fan of the Maine two-footers. I so appreciate what the museum and staff have accomplished in their preservation efforts. I enjoy building large scale (1/12th) models of two-foot equipment and have poured over the various official build threads. Thank you to all the volunteers involved in that work.

Howdy folks!

I'm Daniel Santos, from away (currently in Massachusetts, but NJ born &raised); some of you know me as "Rhode Island Dan" despite never having lived there. I've been up to the WW&F a bunch of times since 2019, and finally remembered to actually join this forum after being a museum member for almost a year. I most recently came up in October of 2024 to help out during the fall work weekend, but I've also been coming up with Ellis and TJ, who are *actually* from Rhode Island.

I'd say that the three regulars I've interacted with the most would be Dan M, Bryce W, and Nick S.

I intend to be back up next sometime in the spring; can't wait!
