Welcome Glenn.

As an "away" volunteer, I envy you for retiring in Maine.  If you are there this June when I come up from Virginia, please introduce yourself so I can give you a proper greeting and welcome to our great group of railroaders, but then you already know about our merry band of 2 footer enthusiast.

Hi all,
My name is Daniel, I currently live in Farmingdale, just under half an hour away from the Museum. In 2021 I graduated from UMaine with a degree in Electrical Engineering Technology and a minor in Franco-American Studies, so I love science/engineering and history. I was at the volunteer orientation day this past Saturday on the 13th, and I plan on being at the museum on many Saturdays depending on my schedule. I've been into trains since I was a kid, when I used to love playing with my model railroad, going to the Maine Narrow Gauge in Portland, and looking at MEC 470 whenever I was in Waterville. I grew out of it for a bit, but I've since come full circle and come back into this passion for the engineering and history's sake. I work in Augusta as an Automation Engineer doing SCADA for power substations. But if you ran into me Saturday, you probably know all this.

Welcome Daniel to that amazing outstanding railway. As you found that out when you came to the "campus" the guys of that railway are terribly friendly. You probably know that Moreau ist the most common last name in France. When I was still working   I had a colleague that shared that name but his first name was Gilbert. BTW do you speak French ?

That's really interesting actually. I didn't know that it was a common surname there. I don't really speak french, I know basic elementary sentences but I haven't had a real use for it so I haven't continued. My parents were both the latest generation in New England to speak french (closer to the Quebecois joual than France french).

Good afternoon All,

I’m Don, new forum and museum member.  Grew up walking old narrow-gauge roadbeds here in Maine with my Dad and grandfather.  Dad worked for the MEC while I was growing up and the NH Northcoast after that.  Spent countless hours working and riding on the 7.5” gauge backyard railroad he had while folks were living up here.  Been on the WW&F many times over the years and am looking forward to getting involved as a volunteer!

Welcome Don!

Right with you on having hiked the two foot gage. Many memories over the many miles.

Wanted: Copies of correspondence and photographs from "first generation narrow gage railfans" such as Linwood Moody, Dick Andrews, Lawrence Brown, Ellis Atwood, H.T. Crittenden and others. Interested in all two foot (U.S.) rail operations, common carrier, industrial/mill and park/museum.

Today must be the day for introductions, between Don and myself!
I'm Pete Moxley, I've been involved with the museum on and off the last few years, mainly as a passenger and the occasional work weekend. I'm an Electrician's Mate in the Coast Guard, and have some experience with diesels and other machinery. I grew up in New Jersey, and have been exposed to railroads my whole life through my dad, Elliott. I plan on making Maine my permanent home, and spending more time in Sheepscot!
