Welcome Jay,
There's plenty of learning and exploring opportunities for you to enjoy. The museum is doing a great job of preserving history and making it available to the public. You will like being a part of the volunteer groups that help to make it all happen. I am a relatively new volunteer and have learned many different and interesting things related to the railroad and their operations. I encourage you to join and hope to see you volunteering in the near future.

Jay,

Welcome to the greatest little railroad expanded and maintained by the greatest group of guys and gals of all ages.  I feel confident that if you join our work groups your interest, knowledge and abilities in real and in model railroads will be expanded beyond your expanded.  Hope to see you soon at the WW&F.

Hello all, I'm Josh from Rome (Maine). I finally got around to creating an account on the forums here. I've been volunteering at WWFRY since fall work weekend of 2016 I think. You can thank John McNamara for inviting me to visit WWFRY. He visited another museum that I volunteer at several years ago, The Telephone Museum. I also serve as VP on the board of directors and manage the website and social media pages. My interest in railroads comes from spending my youth at my family's summer camp in Belgrade next to Maine Central Railroad / Guilford Railroad / Pam Am Railroad. I befriended some of the railroad workers there, learned to operate some of their machinery, hearing their stories, and whatnot. My dad also had model trains that we used when I was young. These days, I own a busy IT consulting business in Oakland serving clients all over the state, though mostly in the Central Maine area. Other hobbies that I enjoy is amateur astronomy, hiking, photography, and birding. Lastly, it's pretty amazing to see the growth of WWFRY rail lines and building in the short period of time that I've been a member and volunteer. Always something new to see when I visit. Here's to many more years to come.

Welcome aboard, Josh. A telephone museum sounds interesting. I'll have to look into it the next time I get to Maine.

Welcome aboard Josh. Even for a faraway onlooker that twofooter is outstanding because ,as you just wrotte it, there is always something new and thrilling that comes along not to mention all the forthcoming projects.

Hello folks!  I am Robert Sharp and I live in Rosneath which is on the West Coast of Scotland. I have been following Wiscasset for some time and am interested in all things Narrow Gauge. I also model in Narrow Gauge and my particular speciality is the construction of micro railways in 009 and H0e gauge. I am a member of the 009 Society and a regular reader of Narrow Gauge World magazine and have a large collection of books on the subject. My current project is building a tiny H0e Alan Keef diesel loco from the Japanese maker Narrow Garage based in Tokyo. This is my first foray into the world of etched brass and whitemetal modelling and I am finding it quite taxing. However "never say die"! as I am now at the painting stage. As I am writing this the temperature in my garden is -1C and we have a heavy frost. Wishing you all a Happy and Healthy New Year 2021   Bob

Hm ... would this be a bad time to mention that the only "agent 009" seen in the Bond series meets a tragic end just after the opening credits?  ;D

Robert, welcome aboard what I have just named the 007 Society -- because we have people here who can keep things running for 50 years and then some!

Hi! My name is David and I'm from Massachusetts. I am currently at a tech school for machining and CAD. I currently model in N scale but I have made 3D models of different locomotives (including #9) and 3D print them for display. I have been fascinated by this museum and the amazing work that has been done. I made this account so that I can ask questions as I have many. Looking forward to see what the WW&F accomplishes in 2021!

Welcome to full-scale modeling!  Actually, my HO friends refer to it as 6 inches-to-the-foot modelling. ;D
