I keep telling the guys I'm getting tired of seeing the same 10 or 12 people every week. We can't wait either. The first work weekend we can have safely we better plan on no work getting done.. Just lots of catching up. Unless of course Fred is around. Then you better catch up quick because he doesn't stop for long.

Come join us at TOM. This will be one of the last cut and burn sessions this year, and the last at TOM for this year, unless the weather turns cold again. Looking like afternoon rain, so we should get the morning in as usual.

I'll be in the shop again working on the drill doing the last round of paint stripping and prep. Great opportunity for new volunteers (or anyone!) who can't make it up to TOM to cut.

Work done on Saturday Feb 27:

* Top of Mtn cutting: we cut 8 until about 11, and had 3 fires.
* Machine shop: Alan and crew were cleaning the "new" milling machine.  Jason was welding for brake cylinders.
* Boxcar 56: Marcel and crew were working on the end beams.  One end beam is ready for fitting.
* Cartography Department: Ed was working on some mapping with respect to the Fossel property and the Clark property.

We worked very hard this morning to beat the weather at TOM. Even with the shortened day, we got a decent amount done. I anticipate this was the last session for cutting there for this winter. Next weekend, Sheepscot.

We had been going for about an hour and a half at this point.

11am. Pretty much done for the day.

After noon, piles were burning down nicely.

Thanks for the photos, Mike--both here and for the various projects active in the Sheepscot shops.  Good progress on many fronts.

Are you just thinning the trees in that area?

For now we are just thining, and removing the weaker trees. They are so dense that the firs and poplar are dying. We are leaving the bigger trees unless they are in the way. The area will be stumped and leveled eventually, giving more useable space.
