Great photos, Mike.  I remember the slash left by the cutting now 2 years ago (wow!).  Great improvement.
What–me worry?

Wow, a lot of work and a great improvement. Is JB going to wear a name tag so we know who it is, some of us have never seen him without the beard.

Rough time of the year to trim off those whiskers B.J.
Ask me how I know this.

There were 8 of us up there in the morning. I ran out of steam around 10:45, but came back with the pick-up after lunch to pick up some firewood.

Also going on this weekend and week: Nicole, Steve P. (and Johnny) cut, prepped and put a first coat of primer on brand new station signs for Trout Brook and Top of the Mountain. The signs will receive more primer during the week before they are prepped for their base coat.

A discussion regarding the name of the station that is adjacent to SeaLyon Farm and the future site of the shingle and saw mills has been moved to the Museum discussion section of the forum.

Work done on Saturday Jan 31:

* Top of Mtn cutting: Mike and Brian and I started in the middle of a large fall of trees - sort of a triangular affair.  I had to leave mid-morning but Dave replaced me.  When I returned in the afternoon the place had been cleaned up really nice.  Later Mike took the saw and he and I cleared downed branches on the road down to Porcupine Palace.
* Boxcar 56: Marcel, Zack, and crew worked on the outer sills, drilling holes for mortise & tenons as well as all-the-way through holes.
* Steam & Sleighs - actual sleighs this time, although only the minimal amount of snow on the ground to make it viable.
* Fred's birthday was celebrated.

And Nancy's casserole was delicious.

The museum store did well, mostly due to the introduction of the special WW&F Railway bronze Lifetime Passes which may be purchased by current life members (for an additional fee) or anyone paying for a new life membership including a pass.  Ten passes were sold today (one order came via U.S. Mail) taking store sales over $1,800 for the day.  Congrats to Mike Fox and everyone who endorsed the idea of creating Mears/Colorado style lifetime passes for the WW&F.

The new pass has also helped nudge some members into becoming life members. I did not realize it would be that much of a draw, but they did come out spectacular. I will be ordering a second batch right off to make sure we don't run out.

Here are some photos. Pretty lonely up there today. Only 3 of us most of the day. Plenty of wood to go around..

Start of the day, looking generally north

Looking at Brian gassing up the saws on the old camp road

From the camp road after we got going

Same spot after lunch

Had a couple of good fires. We definately were not cold.

Brian is tossing stuff on the fire while Dave and I look on

And he cooked a couple of dogs on the fire

The voyage to Pocupine Palace was blocked by several trees. This one was the largest.

James and I made it to the Palace.

No one home

Then I went to see the stump row I created a few years ago. Lots of stumps. I forgot how many I shoved back there.

Headed out. Looks a lot better now.

Mike
