Dynamo Productions Charter
« on: October 20, 2020, 07:52:16 AM »
The following email was sent to Ed and JB by Daniel Day on October 19th, 2020-

From Daniel Day,
Dynamo Productions.

To the dedicated Volunteers of the WW&F Railway:
I can't thank you enough for everything you have done to make Sunday's charter a huge success.  As an organizer, I will say that I was impressed with how the day went.  I got very positive feedback from the attendees and that was because of all your hard work, creativity and generosity.  I hope to have the Dynamo Production video uploaded to YouTube in the coming weeks.  It was a pleasure working with all of you and I hope to have an opportunity to do this again some day.

Sincerely,
Daniel Day

------
Note: There were 14 volunteers helping last Sunday and many more worked to set things up in advance.  It was a great event to show our museum to new people.  We look forward to seeing the video. Some stills have already been published on FB and more will be posted soon.

As a participant in that event, I would echo Daniel's comments.   The Dynamo folks had a fairly ambitious shooting schedule and from what I could see, we pretty much hit all of the locations and more or less when we were supposed to hit them.   Timing is really critical on photo charters.   Photography is all about light and here in the Northeast, the light in any given location is often only great for a very short time.   External organizers typically assemble a shot list and they'll scout the line in advance to know when the light is favorable at each of the chosen locations.  Then, they'll work with the railroad to ensure that their schedule is doable.   After that, the key thing becomes execution.   Getting started on time and then working closely with the organizer to let him/her know when the train needs to leave a given location for the next one really helps make it a good day for the customer.   I think this event went pretty darn well in that regard.

I think I shot about 800 frames on Sunday.  It will take me a little time to go through them, but we'll put together an album of the keepers in the near future.   I'm still finishing up posting all of the Cog stuff that I shot over the last 3 weeks up on Mt. Washington.

Great job by the crew on this one.

Thanks for the comments Kevin.  Glad you could attend the charter last Sunday, looking forward to seeing your photos.

BTW - A second album was posted on the WW&F FB page last night, Oct. 20.  They aren't as nice as your work but they show what Bill, Wes, JB, Paul, Bryce, Dan, Brendan, Nick and others did to create a special event.

In the list of people who helped create a special event, there was one glaring omission - Stewart - who went above and beyond (and over and through, sometimes getting stuck in the process) to ensure TWO period vehicles were in-place for several scene shots.

And somehow, he also managed to take photos.
For those who are not Facebook savvy (or have a Facebook account) here are direct links to Stewart's photos from Sunday 10/18:

Thank You Stewart!

Working with Daniel and Ben made for an interesting and enjoyable day.  Staging the milk can scene was neat, we ran through the dairy car loading sequence a few times and then the volunteers stopped to have a brief conversation about Depression era topics.  After that we had 3 versions of getting back in the flatbed truck and driving east on the Averill Road.  One of the guests said "that was awesome, made my trip here worth it!".  To that Bryce replied "and we're just getting started".

2nd (edited) video has shown up:

The charter namesake video hasn't shown up yet but I think he usually has a couple camera's worth of footage to splice together.
