The two items I bid on went to a price that I was not comfortable with.  There were a couple of items of interest for the museum but I deferred since I did not want to be a competing bid.

1700 for that motor / generator was cheap, but no one should second guess and think we missed s good deal. No one but the buyer knows how high it could have gone. I just bought some retaining wall blocks for six dollars, I would have paid up to $175 for them but no one else wanted them.

Did the museum acquire any items from the sale?

Unknown,  all I was doing was scouting and suggesting on things of interest/need but I had no input on actual bidding.  I only bid on items for my own interest.

A decision was made over the weekend to forego bidding on any items at Milton. This was done because everyone was and is so involved in preparations to reopen the WW&F to the public next week that no one was available to make the trip down to pick up any items that might have been purchased.

Cosmo, had a Moxie thermometer been found at Milton, I can guarantee that the "moxie bootlegger" would have had it in his possession by now.  Alas I did not find one.  Although I am still toying with the idea of sponsoring a "rebuilt" boxcar that will sport the Moxie color scheme and advertisements.

Yes, there is YouTube video of it being unloaded and running in the yard.  Winning bid was $63,000 plus buyers premium plus shipping.  Probably got 80K wrapped up in it - but having looked it over myself, they got a completely remanufactured engine that will be good for another 30-40 years if taken care of.
