July 2020 Work Reports

Anticipated work for July 4, 2020 (there are no parades anywhere, so you may as well come here to help):

* Rock the Mountain: We'll be able to do one round of 4 cars, as Jeff will be "upta camp".  Departure 8:30.
* Car barn: doors?
* Painting: Stewart?
* Vehicle repairs.

Since I can't make Saturday, I will be there Friday, 7/3 at the Pavilion if anyone wants to come help. Laying out the remaing post holes and start digging them.

Work done Wednesday, July 1:

* Coach 9: Eric was busy on coach 9.
* Switching: Barn bay 2 was switched so that Coach 3 was southernmost, and the cars were pushed in so that 3 was on the concrete in hopes of working on piping/etc.  Alas that didn't happen because the forklift died.  However it was good exercise as it proves that 3 coaches can fit in the barn on each track.  Also the Barn bay 1 cars were moved north a little so that work could happen on the transition joint to firm it up. 
* Ballast: Jeff was going to load the cars (after I left).

Graham is correct about the loader.

Work done on Saturday July 4:

* Ballast: We unloaded 4 flatcars today, a crew of 8 or 9.

I only wish we had one like that. Yes, that is Contractor
 Jeffs. Our loader is up on blocks currently with wheels and planetaries removed, to repair the brakes. We also found a bad bushing in the rear end, so the repair will be a little longer than anticipated. Hoping it is back in service for FWW.

Work completed Tuesday 7 July

*  Steve L, Mark and Ben inspected rail joints and ties between Sheepscot Mills and Alna Center.
    49 rail joints were tightened.

*  Steve L, Mark and Ben replaced 4 ties

*  Randy started mowing around the Sheepscot campus.


Work completed Wednesday 8 July

*  Eric and Ron did more work on coach #9.

*  Jay worked on various motorized equipment.

*  Brendan was working on the car barn.

*  James N was busy in the machine shop welding on #9 and other projects.

*  Linda was busy in the gift shop.

*  Bryce and Dan worked on track tamping at Sheepscot Mills and replacing 2 ties. Their day ended
    with staging the 4th flat car back at Alna Center.

*  Jason, Steve L, Mark and the crew from Maine Locomotive and Machine Company did repair work
    to the Sheepscot Mills switch.

*  Randy completed mowings at Sheepscot campus and Alna Center.

*  Fred and JB stopped in as I was leaving to start work.
