Wiscasset Restaurant Reinvented as Hot Spot Diner

"The new proprietors of the former Ship’s Chow Hall, on Route 1 in Wiscasset, are reinventing the restaurant as The Hot Spot Diner, serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

"Tarah Diffin and Lenny Santos, both of Dresden, are leasing the space from the building’s new owner, Jim Duffy, of New Jersey.

"Diffin and Santos had been working at Ship’s Chow Hall for the last three years. Duffy “wanted us to stay here if he were to purchase it,” Santos said..."

Glad to hear the news that Hot Spot Diner (Ships) is open. I got concerned when I came up for the Grand Reunion. As I passed by Ships around 8AM I didn't see any cars or lights on in the building so thought that Ships might have been sold and closed. Breakfast at Ships has been one of the highlights of coming to the Museum.

I am really happy that Lenny is still there.  Does anyone know if Tina and Lenny still own Ships in Dresden?  I saw Lenny's car there last summer and it looked like he was removing the last of their stuff.  I miss that diner being open.

Really?! I didn't know about Dresden. I used to have property in Germany and it wasn't far from Dresden. I know that situation there is not good with all of this virus situation.

Maine is an interesting place! Within an hour’s drive you can visit Dresden, Poland, Moscow and Norway!

I wouldn't call Dresden, Maine, a city.  It's definitely a town.

In Maine we have cities (big population, generally), towns (could have sizeable populations but generally not), then unorganized townships, which are geographic areas that have no government.  The unorganized townships may have some permanent population, but most have very little to none.  They may have names, like Hibberts Gore or Madrid (MADrid), but most have charming tags like T3 R7.

 Bethune, a 347 inhabitant town located in the Kershaw County South Virginia shares the name with my hometown located in northern France. I wish I could find the reason why.

Alain I have a good friend whose last name is Bethune. So I would guess that there was a family in that area and the town was named in their honor.

It seems there are Bethune as a lastname in the States as in France for that matter but I don't know anyone that shares the name. The town in South Virginia might be built by a migrant that came from Béthune France. There are quite a lot of Paris in the US, the most famous is located in Texas of course.
