I have a huge amount of respect for the WW&F folks who slogged through yesterday. Having worked in similar conditions on the railroad in my working life, I know how difficult it can be. I played a very small part in last year's VC, where I was able to see in person how hard everyone worked to make the entire event nothing but enjoyable for the visitors. A heartfelt well done and thank you to everyone!

Can't believe I forgot to mention Ed Lecuyer.  Like many of our recent special events, he put together the operating plan for Saturday.  Very patient person, especially with grousing conductors like myself.

I fully agree with Wayne about the rain that makes things more difficult and hasardous on the railroad at every level but despite those dreary weather conditions you have managed to stay afloat, dare I say it, and made Victorian Christmas successful once more. Santa and all the  big and little riders that braved that downpour, wont soon forget the dedicated volunteers that  warmly welcomed them on that big occasion. Well done you all !

I was overwhelmed with how everyone went the extra mile to make it a pleasant experience for our guests. Not a frown to be seen anywhere- nothing but smiles. Many, many of our guests told me how much they appreciate that we do this. They noted the drenched volunteers still smiling after a long day with awe. I couldn’t have been any prouder (or wetter). Thanks to all who made the day a success.

Anticipated work for Saturday Dec 21:

* Car barn extension
* Pavilion

Work done on Saturday Dec 21:

* Tank car 14: Zack drilled a large hole in the end buffer beam for a pipe coming out of the tank.  Zack and Brendan were also working on brakes.
* Car barn: Fred emptied the truck of the lumber for the barn off to the side.  Later in the day Stewart was climbing around adding cross braces to the roof trusses (which the roof sheets will be attached to).
* Pavilion/yard clean up: Mike spent the morning rescuing various pavilion pieces from various spots in the yard, loading them on the white dump truck and taking them to Alna Center.  He brought up the forks for the Dean excavator and put them on that, and used that to unload.  In the afternoon he rescued more lumber from behind the garage and brought it up by the trusses.
* Coal pile: MNG donated a half-load of coal this past week for the photo events; this coal was moved to onto the pile and the tarp covered it as best we could.
* Machine shop: James N and Bryce were up to something in the machine shop.
