Nice: you can take the ultra-modern Blue Train and get picked up by the steam train.

Can we have steam tractors, antique cars and aero planes too?

The steam tractors would be OK as long as they were Lombards or other forestry equipment.  Also remember we have a steam powered sawmill and shingle mill to still construct at TOM.

I thought the shingle mill utilized an old Continental 4-banger flathead gasoline engine.

A common steam engine driving the shingle mill and the saw mill would be awesome.

I agree, but that would of course require yet another boiler.

Well, I think we are learning how to build them and for TOM it would be #3 (after #10 and #11).  I hope we'd have the hang of it by then.

I thought all our engineers and some fireman/women were licensed.

In my going through old Maine newspapers searching for info on the 2 footers, I've come across several reports of gas engines being used at sawmills, particularly portable ones. So a gas powered operation at TOM would not be unprototypical.

Back in the day when I got my black seal, locomotive and stationary boiler operators classes and licenses were different.  They were still classified by pressure / HP but there were a bunch things the loco guys had to know and do that the stationary did not have.  I don't know what the current regulations require in Maine but I would think that anyone who is already certified to fire on the RR would be also qualified for stationary.
